Serving You Since 1885 Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is a licensed 25-bed Critical Access Hospital that provides a full range of healthcare services to the residents and visitors of the Salida Hospital District���an area that includes more than 18,000 residents in Chaffee, western Fremont and northern Saguache Counties. We offer a host of medical services, a wide range of surgical specialties, a family birthing center, Level IV Trauma Center, chemotherapy, and the latest diagnostic imaging technology. We have a physician staff of more than 90 and 245 dedicated employees. Our new state-of-the-art, patient-centered facility was completed in April, 2008. From the light-filled atrium and original art, to the large private rooms, the design of our facility provides a healing environment for the patients and families we serve. The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours-a-day by an in-house physician and nurses with special training in emergency medicine. The department is equipped to handle any and all medical emergencies including trauma, cardiac, respiratory and a host of other high risk conditions. The Chaffee County EMS ambulance response team and the Flight for Life helicopter transport program assists transports to and from the hospital.
